Student Vandalism Video Contest
As a part of a speical target prevention program for vandalism, The Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) is calling all students 7th-12th grade to assist them by creating a 60 second vandalism public service anouncement! The deadline is Friday, March 14th.
The winnig video will be awarded $1000 cash, recognition by CARD, and possible integration into the CUSD 3rd-6th grade curriculum. CARD will reveal the winning video on Thursday, March 27th during a film festival and awards ceremony at CUSD Center for the Arts (1475 East Ave.) Doors open at 6pm and the event starts at 6:30pm!

Chico Science Fair
The Chico Science Fair Foundation invites you to attend their 30th annual Science Fair on Wednesday, March 26th & Thursday March 27th! It will be held at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds Commercial Building and will showcase over 500 science projects created and displayed by local K-12 students. It is a free event and will be open from 10am-8pm & awards will be given at a reception on Thursday at 6pm

Red Bluff Round Up Chili Cook-Off
When: April 12th, 2014
Where: Downtown Red Bluff
The Professional International Chico Society members will be competing in a regional competition and local area businesses will be serving chili to the public beginning at 11:30am! Tasting cups are $5 and all of the money raised goes toward local scholarships. There will be live entertainment, a classic car show, and other special events! Come join the fun!

CCNV is a partnership of organizations whose projects work to strengthen the NorthValley community through local, sustainable food. These organizations are: GRUB Education Program, CSUC's College of Agriculture, The Center for Nutrition & Activity Promotion (CNAP), and Collaboratively Creating Health Access Opportunities & Services (cCHAOS).
CCNV's Mission is to increase food security in ButteCounty and surrounding farm area, starting with the under-served. We offer education, consultation, networking, and targeted resources to support students, small scale and low-income farmers, and under-served communities to increase participation and capacity in the local food system.
Chico Certified Farmers Market (Saturday)
The Chico Certified Farmers' Market mission is a unique opportunity where farmers and vendors can sell directly to the consumer in organized farmers' markets in the Butte county area. Our first farmers' market began in Dowtown Chico in August of 1980. The Downtown Chico farmers' market moved many times before it found a more permanent location in Downtown Chico, which is now 2nd & Wall Street.
Academic Self Defense
An Academic Self Defense program is starting at Azad's Martial Arts Family Center. The program provides youngsters from Grade 1-12 with special after school academic tutoring every Monday-Thursday from 3-4:30pm. It's a FREE program that offers help in all subject areas including Basic Math and Calculus, Science, Reading, Writing, English, etc. Parents must call at least 24 hours ahead to pre-register their children for each session, to guarantee a spot for tutoring.
